My God

"My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?"
Psalm 22:1

It seems when the writer penned this scripture, he wondered where God was. He wondered why his situation wasn't getting better. He had tried all he could.

What caught my attention wasn't the suffering of the writer, but rather his salvation. Even in his situation, he knew who his Savior was. Because he used the words, "where are you?", it shows he knew he had a God that could save him.

When you begin to think about your God and what He's done for you and the ways that He has made, nothing else should matter. Though things seems to fall apart around you, God is still your God.

Even when it seems things aren't changing, remember Who you have on your side. Your God.

Love Notes

Psalm 31:1-2

"In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness.Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me."

This is what I call a real moment with God. We go to God asking for things and try to make it pretty.Yet, I believe that it comes a point in all of our lives where we have to be real with God and tell him what we are thinking and what we really need. And, until we get to that point he wont move. We sometimes treat God as if he is one of our options, not the only option.

If you are going through something and you feel that you don’t know what to do or how it will work out, let me encourage you. God knows how it will end up and how it will turn around for you. So, give it to him and let him do what he does; and that’s be God. When you turn it over to him, ask for peace. Not just regular peace, but that “peace that passes all understanding.” The kind of peace where even you don’t know why you are not stressing about it. And, when you have that kind of peace, you will stop breathing and start living. Trade in your panic for peace and your stress for sleep.

Heed The Warning Sign

"When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.”
John 13:21

While driving down the road, we often see caution signs. Road work ahead. Dead end. I began to wonder, as I looked at the signs, what if God showed us warning signs in life. What if our phones read "caution" when we picked them up to send a text message? What if, in the middle of a date, a sign was sat on the table that said, "dead end"? What if you met someone and didn't think they were much, but you saw a sign saying, "road work ahead"?

I readon that life does give us warning signs. There are signs that show us we are talking to people that live on a dead end street. Life does give us signs that say "slow down" or "proceed with caution." We are so busy looking forward, that we miss the sign that is up ahead. God has shown us, if we heed the warnding signs in life, we won't be caughtoff guard by a dead end up the road. Sometimes we are given time to turn around before it's too late. People shouldn't always get an opportunity to pull all their tricks on you before you learn to heed the warning signs.

Just remember, you have to watch what's ahead and heed the warning. Stop and look. Don't ignore the voice in the back of your head.

Best if Used By

While recently watching the Homegoing Service of a very prominent pastor, I heard a very moving statement by the person designated to do the eulogy. He stated that when you deal with milk, as well as cereal and other perishable items, you can always find a warning on them saying, "best used by" a certain date.

This struck a chord in my mind, because we all have to die one day. But, the conclusion that I have learned is, even though we do all have to go one day, would I be satisfied going full of juice because I've never been used or empty because I've given myself to God to be used? It's unfortunate when you have to throw away a full carton of milk or orange juice, because no one ever used it for what it was made for.

When I thought of this, it made me sad because, I thought of how many of us are being used for many things, but are we really being used for what God created us for? Are we allowing God to use us to our full potential? Will we die with our dreams still in our hearts?

My challenge to you today is to look inside yourself and examine whether you are being used by God, so you won't be poured out because you've gotten old an lumpy and began to stink.

Move On

"But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive." Genesis 50:20

We hold on to so many unnecessary things in life, instead of just moving on. If you've been hurt, move on. If you've been lied to, move on. If you say you're going to forgive someone and you still have to bring it up, move on. Leave them behind. The worst thing you can do is to leave someone behind, yet you still carry them with you like a truck carries a trailer. Though it may not be on the truck with you, you're still towing it around. It's dead weight.

Don't move on to a new relationship while still carrying your old one. Not only does it become unfair to you, it's unfair to the other person, because they don't see who else you are carrying around. And, as soon as they do something that reminds you of the last relationship, they catch a whole other attitude. Move on.

One of the most powerful things you can do in life is to forgive and let things go. Don't carry things that people have told you. You can be walking around, having a good day, and some one begins to burden you with their problems. You don't have to carry that with you. Move on. If you know someone that never has anything good to say when they call, don't answer the phone. Move on.

So, today I want to encourage you to move on. It's two simple words that will really change your life. If you're not having a good day today, think about why you aren't having a good day. Call whoever you need to call and let them know they're not worth it and you're moving on. When you're not happy, you have one person to blame, and it's he who stares back at you in the mirror.

Move on.

Love Notes

Set your affection on things above, not on things of this earth. Colossians 3:2

While thinking about how love consumes our time, I realized that it's safe to say that love is the root of everything we do. Yet, we allow ourselves to be lead by our hearts so often, that it sometimes distracts us from where we are trying to go. We act on our feelings, instead of the facts.

Colossians 3:2 tells us to set our affections on things above. If we learn to set our affections on things above, we won't be so overwhelmed with the minor things going on around us day to day. People will hurt you. People will lie on you. People will talk about you.

Instead of allowing that to dictate how you live your life, set your affections on higher things. Remember, when people let you down, God still loves you. When people talk about you & say you're not worth anything, remember God thought enough of you to die for you.

Love Him that first loved you. Don't put all of your hope in people or things of this world. Set your affections on things above.

Love Notes

I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? [Was] not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob." Malachi 1:2

In a day and time where low self-esteem is running crazy.... we are buying things to impress people we don’t like and spending time talking to people just because we want them to like us.

Nevertheless, after reading this verse I thought to myself, "how can I not feel good about myself, the Lord loves me?" How can I feel like I don’t matter, when He loves me. So when people do me wrong, it doesn't matter, I’m in love. It doesn’t make everything better, but it does change the fact that I will have problems, yet it’s a lot easier to face them when I know who I am in love with & who loves me.

When I say He loves you, it’s that kind of love where you keep the fire new. You want to know how I know He still loves you? When you woke up this morning, that was a sign of His love. When you were able to open your eyes, that was love.

Stop looking at the things in your life that you think are going wrong and look at the things that He has going right. Because your car note wouldn’t matter if He didn’t wake you up this morning. And, if God can pull you out of a deep sleep, then why don’t you think he can put car note money in your pocket? When you feel loveless, remember your “FIRST” LOVE.

Get Up

"Faith without works is dead."
James 2:20

Nowadays, it's easy for us to say that we have a lot going on and we are so busy. Yet, I've learned, the longer I have lived, that it's the busiest people that never get anything done. It's always the person that never has time to do the important things that fill their days with things of less significance.

Sometimes we ask God for things, yet our works do not show the need in the prayers that we are requesting. We demand for God to open doors for us, but we don't even want to use our own energy to get up and walk through the door.

So, the scripture says that you are a vain and shallow man. It's basically saying that you may have the faith, but your faith doesn't line up with your works. Though you say you're headed in one destination, you on a totally different route. "Faith without works is dead," is simply saying that what we are saying and what we are doing is not lining up.

Don't be a bipolar Christian. Don't say you want one thing and when God gets ready to give it to you, you start walking in another direction. Don't say that you want to be saved, sanctified and souled out for the Savior and every time we get an opportunity to sin, we take it and say the devil's way seems to be a bit easier than God's way. We can't play for both teams. I'm not saying we won't ever mess up. What I am saying is our destination and our route has to match up. You can't get to Canada, going through Mexico. Unless, of course, you started out somewhere south of Mexico. We can't get to heaven, wondering around in hell.

Today I want to encourage you to get up! Move in the direction today that you want to go. Get up and trust God to do the rest. Do what you can. The Book of Ephesians says, "now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think." Yet, to get to this promise, we have to have already done all that we can. Then, hand it over to Him and allow God to do more than what we ever could.

So, do what you can....allow God to do the rest. Don't ask God to do the rest until after you've done the little that you can.
